One day, when I was little, I ran away and hid in a cave. That’s where I met them. They were blind, just like me, so we understood each other. I was able to learn Earthbending; not just as a martial art, but as an extension of my senses. For them, the original Earthbenders, it wasn’t just about fighting. It was their way of interacting with the world.
is the one and only time we ever see Azula show even an ounce of real compassion. Actual remorse for something nasty she has said. She cares about Ty Lee’s feelings. Not Mai’s, not her brother’s, just Ty Lee.
I also see Ty Lee as the kind of person who wouldn’t be bothered by anything anyone says of her. The only person whose words hurt her is Azula. Azula’s is the only opinion she cares about. Zuko calls her a circus freak, we get a speech wrapped up neatly with a perfect “‘circus freak’ is a compliment!” Azula suggests she’s a tease and suddenly there are waterworks.
I’m probably just reiterating the exact same argument of any Tyzula shipper, but seriously… it’s pretty undeniable that they would part as, at the VERY least, total besties.
